A presentation won't open or looks different
What to do when a presentation won't convert, takes a long time, fails, or doesn't look like it does in PowerPoint.
“LibreOffice isn't available”
PowerPoint files need LibreOffice to be converted the first time. Install it and click Check again. In the meantime, PDFs and presentations that are already converted work as usual.
“Couldn't convert the presentation”
The reason appears below it. Try Retry. Depending on the message:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “LibreOffice didn't respond…” | If LibreOffice is open, close it and click Retry. |
| “There isn't enough disk space…” | Free up some space: to convert, the app needs at least 500 MB free, and more for large files. |
| “…The file may be damaged or protected.” | Open it in PowerPoint to see if it's all right, or save it as a PDF and use the PDF. |
| “The PDF is password-protected…” | Save a copy of the PDF without the password. |
| “The file is no longer available…” | The file was moved or deleted: locate it. |
It takes a while to open
The first time, each presentation is converted (“Converting slides…”). After that it opens instantly. To avoid waiting during the service, convert everything the day before with Prepare folder (how).
It looks different than in PowerPoint
- PowerPoint animations and transitions don't play: each slide is shown as a still image.
- A video inside a slide only works in
.pptxand.ppsx. For a.pptor.pps, save the presentation as.pptxfrom PowerPoint. - Hidden slides aren't shown.
- If the font isn't the one you chose, that font may not be installed on this computer. Install it, or save the presentation as a PDF from PowerPoint.
It doesn't advance by itself or has no music
.odpfiles and PDFs have no auto-advance.- If the music is in a separate file, put it in the same folder as the presentation, with the same name, or choose it with Add audio.
- MIDI audio inside the presentation doesn't play.
If it still doesn't work, report it and, if you can, attach the presentation.
