Overlays: lower thirds, banners and bugs
Show the preacher's name, an announcement or the church logo on top of whatever is being projected.
An overlay is drawn on top of what's live, without replacing it: the preacher's name over the video, an announcement on a bar, the logo in a corner. They're in Functions › Overlays and stay saved for the next service.
| Type | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Lower third | A title and a subtitle at the bottom, like the name and role of whoever is speaking. |
| Banner | A full-width bar, at the top or bottom, with text that stays still or scrolls. |
| Bug | A small image or text in a corner, like the church logo. |
Create an overlay
Click Overlays… and then New overlay.
Choose the Type and type the Title and the Subtitle; for a bug, choose the image.
Adjust the bar, the font, the Position and the Entrance and exit animation. Test entrance and Test exit play it in the preview, without touching the projector.
Save with the floppy disk.
Put it up and take it down
Click the overlay: the Preview monitor shows it over what's live.
Click GO LIVE or double-click it: it appears on the projector, on top of whatever is there.
To take it down, click Hide under Preview, or the X on its row in the Live panel.
- There's one overlay per edge (top and bottom) and one of each type: a new one replaces whichever held that spot.
- Sending something else live doesn't take the overlays down: they stay on top of the new content.
- BLACK, LOGO or having nothing live covers them: the list says Covered and they come back by themselves when uncovered. While they're visible, it says On air.
- With Hide after a set time, the overlay goes away by itself; the time only runs while it's visible.
Overlays can go in the schedule too, at the point in the service where they need to appear.
