What you need
The computer, the system, the second screen and the one extra program you need to use Lumina Live.
Lumina Live is free and doesn't ask for accounts or internet: everything runs on the computer. Here's what you need.
The computer
| System | What to download |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit | The .exe installer. See Install on Windows. |
| macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, on a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) | The .dmg. See Install on macOS. |
| Ubuntu, Debian or Linux Mint, 64-bit (experimental) | The .deb package. See Install on Linux. |
| Other Linux distributions, 64-bit (experimental) | The AppImage. |
Warning: There's no version yet for Macs with an Intel processor, or for Windows or Linux on ARM processors.
The control window needs at least 1000 × 700 pixels: any current laptop is enough.
A second screen
To project, you need a projector or TV connected to the computer, besides the screen you work on. The computer has to extend the display, not mirror it, so the congregation sees only the projection. We explain how in The projector screen.
Without a second screen you can still use it to practice: the projection opens as a small window.
LibreOffice, for PowerPoint presentations
Lumina Live uses LibreOffice, which is free, to open PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx) and Impress (.odp) files. PDFs, videos, images, audio and the Bible don't need it. See Install LibreOffice.
What you don't need
- Internet: only to download it. After that it works offline.
- An account or a subscription.
- PowerPoint or Office.
- Video player programs: the app converts by itself the formats it can't play as they are.
