The projector screen
How Lumina Live chooses where to project, how to change screens and what happens if the projector disconnects mid-service.
Lumina Live uses two windows: the control window, where you work, and the projection window, which goes full screen on the projector or TV. The congregation only sees the second one.
When the projection opens
The projection window doesn't open when the app starts: it opens by itself the first time you click GO LIVE, BLACK or LOGO, on the first screen that isn't the main one. On a laptop connected to a projector, that's the projector.
- With two or more screens, it fills the chosen screen, with no borders and always on top.
- With a single screen (a laptop with no projector, for example), it opens as an 800 × 600 window, for practice.
- If the computer doesn't detect any screen to project on, “There's no screen to project on” appears with a Choose screen button.
Extended, not mirrored
For the congregation to see only the projection, the computer has to use the projector as a separate screen:
- Windows: press Win + P and choose Extend.
- macOS: in System Settings › Displays, the projector has to be an extended display, not a mirror of the main one.
If the screens are mirrored, the congregation sees the same as you do, control window included.
Choose another screen
Open Settings (the gear at the top left) › Projection.
In Projector screen, choose the monitor. The computer's main screen says (main) next to its name.
If the projection was already open, it moves to the new screen right away, with whatever was live.
Warning: Don't choose the (main) screen if the projector is connected: the projection would fill your whole screen and cover the control window.
If the projector disconnects
If the projector turns off, goes to sleep or the cable comes loose mid-service, the projection hides but doesn't close: what was live keeps running, with its sound. “The projector's screen was disconnected…” appears and, when the screen comes back, the picture comes back by itself (“The projector's screen is back”). You don't have to do anything.
If you connect the projector after opening the app, Lumina Live detects it and, if the projection was open on your screen, moves it to the projector by itself.
While the projection is open, the computer doesn't turn off the screens or start the screen saver.
If the projector stops responding
Open Settings › Projection.
In Projector window, click Close projector and then Open projector.
The projection comes back on BLACK: click LIVE to show what was live again.
Warning: Closing the projection cuts the sound: the service's audio plays from that window.
Minimizing the control window also minimizes the projection; restore it and the projection comes back.
