Lumina Live

Install LibreOffice

Lumina Live uses it to convert PowerPoint presentations. It's free and you only install it once.

The first time you open a PowerPoint presentation, Lumina Live converts it into images, and for that it uses LibreOffice, a free office suite. Without LibreOffice everything else works the same: PDFs, presentations that are already converted, videos, images, audio and the Bible.

Install it

  1. Download it from libreoffice.org (opens in a new tab). You can also open that page from the app: Settings › Slides › Download LibreOffice.

  2. Install it like any other program, in the folder the installer suggests.

  3. Go back to Lumina Live and click Check again, in Settings › Slides. There's no need to restart the app.

When it finds it, “LibreOffice … is ready” appears and Settings › Slides shows its version.

On Linux, install it from your distribution's repositories: LibreOffice on Linux.

If you installed it and the app can't find it

Lumina Live looks for it where it's normally installed on each system. If you put it in another folder:

  1. Open Settings › Slides.

  2. Click Locate soffice… and choose the program: on macOS, the LibreOffice app in Applications; on Windows, soffice.exe, inside LibreOffice's program folder.

Warning: What you choose with Locate soffice… stays fixed: if you later move LibreOffice or reinstall it somewhere else, choose it again with the same button.

The “LibreOffice isn't available” warnings

While it's missing, the app tells you when it opens and above the Presentations tab. If you don't use PowerPoint, click Don't show again; you can turn the warning back on with Warn when it's missing, in Settings › Slides.

Without LibreOffice, a presentation that hasn't been converted yet can't GO LIVE: the app tells you it's needed and the projector stays as it was.
